Pregnancy is an amazing journey that lasts for around nine months of a
woman’s life. This means almost 40 weeks or 266 days of conception. Each new
month brings with itself new joys and new changes experienced both by the
mother and the unborn child. Although many are aware of the changes that take
place in the mother, most of the women are unaware of the changes taking place
in their unborn child during pregnancy month by month. Following given steps
would help you in gaining an insight into the growth of your baby as closely as
possible.
First Month
The first month involves just the conception of the baby. The fetus is
very tiny at this point and the to-be-mom starts experiencing the bouts of
morning sickness. However, by the end of this month, your baby will start
developing organs though the embryo is still very tiny- even smaller than an
apple seed.
Second Month
The second month will see the baby developing distinguishable fingers
and toes. The baby develops to the size of a bean and even starts developing
the eyelids. However, it is still impossible to tell whether it is a boy or
girl. The expecting mother will also start feeling some discomfort such as sore
breasts, frequent urge to urinate, and feeling of tiredness.
Third Month
By the end of third month, the baby is almost 3’’long and will start
developing fingerprints too. The first trimester comes to an end lowering the
chances of miscarriage and also the morning sickness symptoms.
Fourth Month
According to the pregnancy month by month guide, by month four, your
baby will start developing denser bones along with eyelids, eyebrows, nails and
hair. The reproductive organs along with nervous system start functioning and
one can catch a glimpse of the baby’s sex at this point.
Month Five
This I considered to be a milestone for both the baby and the mom. The
baby starts developing hair and is covered by a cheese like substance called
venix. Also, the mother can now feel her baby move with him or her being about
10 inches long and weighing around ½ to one pound.
Month Six
By this time, your baby starts responding to light and sound as his
eyelids now part leaving the eyes open. Weighing almost two pounds, veins too
start developing under the translucent skin. He or she is now twelve inches
long and may survive with intensive care if delivered at this time.
Seventh Month
This month sees the baby developing proper hearing capability and even
the receptiveness to pain. Fat now starts developing as the baby now starts
developing for delivery. Weighing between two to four pounds, the baby can now
survive outside the mother’s womb.
Eighth Month
According to the pregnancy month by month
guide, during the complete eighth month, your baby continues its growth and
development of baby fat. Although the lungs are still not completely developed,
most of his other internal organs are completely ready.
Ninth
Month
During the last and final month of
pregnancy, the baby is now fully developed with more coordinated reflexes such
as blinking, grasping firmly, and turning his head. As and when he or she is
ready for delivery, it will drop in pelvis with normally head facing towards
the birth canal. At the time of birth, your baby would normally weigh around
seven pounds and would be around eighteen to twenty inches long.
You will consider these nine months to be
the best time of your life when you get your little bundle of joy in your
hands. Following this pregnancy month by month guide, you will be able to
monitor your child’s growth complete from his or her conception till he or she
opens his or her eyes in this world.
Summary
An expecting mother should take appropriate
care of her body to ensure a consistent development of her unborn baby
throughout the pregnancy month by month.
